Setting up shelter


Members of the Saline County Composite Squadron Civil Air Patrol recently took part in the emergency shelter fundamentals course offered by the American Red Cross. Joining other volunteers from across Saline County at the First Methodist Church.

In addition to learning the Red Cross policies and procedures for setting up and operating an emergency relief shelter, the CAP members also got some hands-on training setting up Red Cross cots. Now that they have been trained in the basics, those who attended the fundamental training will take part in an advanced mock disaster activity in April.

Disaster relief is just one of the many missions undertaken by Civil Air Patrol, the official auxiliary of the U.S. Air Force. The Saline County squadron meets from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Saturdays at the Marshall Municipal Airport. For more information, visit
